My local union and the school district have been at odds since last year and we as union members have been stepping up our political actions. I am one of the elected representatives for my school so this has taken up a lot of my time.
In addition to the 200 or so students I have a day, the advisor for the soccer program and Model United Nations Club, I now have to be a political leader. Lucky for me, I do enjoy this work and well suited to it with my historical knowledge.


I am hoping that a settlement will be reached soon, but it is not looking good right now for a variety of reasons. I am proud to be a part of the labor movement, fighting for better working conditions for teachers, but it may be the straw that breaks the camels back this year.
