Playtime for me consists of lots of different things. I always try to have a balance between play and work. I believe it is healthy for the mind and spirit. When I don’t feel well that balance is usually out of whack. Playtime plays a crucial role in child development, but I believe it is necassary for adults as well to not feel stagnant!

Sports When I Was Younger
Sports have always been my number one form of play. When I was younger, everything fun happened outside. Being inside the house was boring, almost a punishment. Whether it was riding bikes, building forts, role-playing games, playing handball, wiffle ball, or soccer, we were always outside doing stuff.

Playtime For Me as an Adult
I still try to have at least an hour of doing something outside or “playful” just to give my mind a break from “adulting”. Taking care of kids, doing chores, paying bills, commuting, and dealing with ahole people wears me down. I find it very helpful to change things up in my brain with a game or two, sometimes it is just on my Xbox, but something to pop me out of whatever I am stressing about. A morning workout, coaching, or playing games with my kids all do this. After all, all work and no play makes Michael a dull boy!
Conclusion
Thanks for reading the Lifelong Education Blog! I recently passed 20,000 views on my site which is pretty mind blowing to me. I started out in May getting a little more serious about this and now I am realizing this may end up being a lifelong pursuit!
