An exciting 2023-24 NFL season is winding down with divisional playoff action continuing this week. The 49ers and the Ravens won yesterday to punch their ticket to the semi-final. Who will meet them there?

Gotta Love The Lions

Even though the Lions vanquished my beloved Los Angeles Rams in a nailbiting game, I still am pulling for them this year mainly because I have two friends who are die hard Lions fans. The Lions had won one playoff game since 1957 going into this postseason. That is 66 years if you are keeping score at home. They have only had double-digit wins five times since 1957. The Lions have never played in the Super Bowl, not once! Only nine players from the Lions have been selected to the Pro Bowl since 2000. The Patriots had eight in 2008 alone!

The NFL as sports leagues goes has a lot of competitive parity. Usually teams that are down for a few years have some sort of resurgence and at least win a playoff game every now and then. To stick with this team for that long really says something about the level of dedication to the franchise by the fans.

The last coach with a winning percentage over .500 with the Lions since 1957 was Joe Schmidt from 1967-1972.

Deebo Samuel M.I.A. for San Francisco 49ers?

Deebo Samuel the star wide-receiver for San Francisco is listed as questionable for the NFC championship game. Samuel did not play the second half of the divisional playoff against the Green Bay Packers. The Niners looked good, but beatable last night, maybe the Lions can punch their ticket with a win today.

Deebo Samuel - #19 - wide receiver - 49ers

Shanahan did not have an update on Samuel’s status after the game. When asked about the severity of the injury, Shanahan said, “I don’t know yet. We’ll see tomorrow.”

Kansas City Is Great But Can Someone Else Have A Turn

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce make up a potent Kansas City offense that already has two Super Bowls with much of that core group still together. Mahomes is fun to watch, don’t get me wrong, but I would like to see the Bills get a shot. I became a long distance sort of Bills fan back when they had Jim Kelley and it was heartbreaking to see them come close to winning three Super Bowls and walk away with nothing. A Lions Bills matchup would be great for the Superbowl, but lets face it, the Ravens will likely be there as they are playing the best out of any team down the stretch. Check the schedule for the playoff games here.

Vegas Odds for Games Today

The Lions are six point underdogs according to most Vegas oddsmakers. I will take that bet, it is at Ford field, which will be rocking for sure. Additionally, the Lions beat the Bucs 20-6 last time around. The Chiefs are only two point favorite to 2.5 against the Bills with the game at Buffalo. I am going to take the Chiefs because they are used to playing in cold weather, not sure how much of a home field advantage the Bills get there and Kansas City’s offense is so explosive. The Bills are a pretty solid team as well, don’t get me wrong, but if I gotta choose, I gotta choose…..
