I have been a long-time supporter of team dog, but team cat has made some inroads with me the last few years, mainly because the woman I love came with two cats, non-negotiable. I always thought cats were cool, but I was raised with dogs. My family always had two big dogs and one smaller dog.

Dogs were always at the center of my family culture. Walking the dogs, making jokes about the dogs, nicknaming the dogs, and playing with the dogs.

We had a couple of cats, but they became outdoor cats, or were outdoor cats that decided to adopt us for a time. I remember playing with one of my good friends cats a lot and wanting a cat like his one day.

Fast forward to today, I have two orange cats, a boy and a girl, J.T. and Dani. I also have two dogs, but if I had to choose one over the other, I would probably go with dogs (don’t tell my cats). I have always been a dog persona and our two dogs we have now are amazing companions.

Thanks for stopping by The Lifelong Learning and Education Blog! I haven’t been writing as much because I have had to spend a lot of time on the computer for work, but will be getting after it more soon. Have a fantastic day or night wherever you may be.

Discussion Question

Do you prefer dogs or cats?

  1. 😊

  2. Meaningful posts as always. A difficult question for me to answer because I honestly have never been much of an animal lover. If I were forced to choose a favorite animal, it would have to be cats. I have always found cats to be comforting creatures providing a sense of relief for people. During dark times, cats can often give people a source of relief to cope with grief. I also appreciate the facts that they don’t intervene with people and tend to mind their own business. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of dogs. I have never admired dogs because of bad experiences. Years ago, I faced a traumatic incident in which I was chased by a dog in my neighborhood that was violent. I came close to being bitten until the owner intervened just in time and saved my life. Ever since, I have had a negative perception of dogs. So, it’s safe to say that I have preferred cats for this question.

This post brought to mind the recent horror movie “A Quiet Place: Day One”. It tells the story of a terminally ill women and her cat that are caught up in an awful alien invasion catastrophe. The cat becomes a symbol of hope for the woman providing relief amidst the darkest situation possible. One of the best horror films of the year.

Here’s why I recommend it strongly:

    1. My grandfather had a giant German Shepherd and it scared the heck out of me. I did not like that dog, but I still loved my dogs at home.

Quiet place looks pretty terrifying! I just rewatched the second one. I am excited for the new “Alien: Romulus” that is coming out in August! Good to hear from you my friend!
