I have to thank my students for teaching this many times over. I have a tendency to take things very seriously, like way too seriously at times. I get wound up about minutia of life and it can take over my day, making me lose focus on the important things.

Kids have the ability to not take things seriously that really helps balance me out. It is a daily reminder that life should be enjoyed and can be readily enjoyed once one casts their cares a bit more to the side. Endless jokes, light-hearted teasing, and just a general attitude of anti-seriousness is infectious. For me, this is what it means to be a kid at heart to me.
