Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?

I loved the “Choose Your Own Adventure” series. I remember devouring them whenever I saw them, especially anything dealing with space or exploration.

If you are not familiar with these books, they take the reader on a journey in which they can choose different outcomes in the story based on their decisions.

This was the best! one!

Many adventures end badly for the adventurer, sometimes in death! They get pretty intense at times. There is always one path that leads to a positive outcome. Sometimes other readers would leave the page numbers to the more utilitarian outcomes in the margin. I always resented this. I was much more in the don’t write hints in the margin type of advemturer.

Thanks for visiting The-Lifelong Learning Blog! I am on day two of vacation to Utah and my daughter is driving😳. Looking forward to doing some writing the next few days in the sleepy towm of Brianhead.

  1. I love those. I used to read the endings and work my way backwards to figure out the best way to go through the books. It was fun.

    1. I would do that too. I felt like it was cheating though 😉 Thanks for the comment 🙂

    2. Your images and poetry are really captivating. I like that a lot of them are shorter.

      1. I do that because we all got so much to read here so I’m keeping them concise and not writing a whole Shakespearean sonnet in here.

      2. I figured. I feel bad sometimes, I want to read everyone’s work and really dive into it, but there just isn’t enough time!

      3. I have some great short stories. I’d love to put in here, but I don’t know how to chop them up so people will read them because the best ones 24 pages long in Microsoft Word. I can’t post that here. No one will read it.

      4. A lot of people post a short chapter a day, just to get their work out there. Maybe try that?

  2. A great post. I definitely agree with your preference for “Choose your Own Adventure” books. I grew up reading fantasy books that had a massive impact in shaping my identity. Perhaps, the most beloved book series that I devoured was J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter”. It was the first book series that introduced me to a joy of reading. I loved all the books, but the first novel “The Philosopher’s Stone” holds a particularly special place in my heart. Rowling did an incredible job of writing a book which cast readers under a magical spell. It introduced the wizarding world to children. It has since become a precious part of my childhood which I will forever treasure.

Here’s my thoughts on the first book:

    1. Harry Potter is definitely a great series as well! The first books came out when I was starting college I think, but I still ended up getting into them with my girlfriend and kids later. Any issues with the bully of late?

I like your reviews, they are very detailed! Do you get a lot of traffic from Google?

      1. Hi Mr. B.,

Thanks for the positive feedback. No issues with the bully lately. I wanted to thank you for the comment you posted which made all the difference. There’s a chance he can still bully me, but I would report the incident if it happens.

Traffic on my website is an issue which I haven’t yet solved. I often have to work hard to promote my reviews, which is a reason why Tom was angry with me. He argued I was doing too much promotion on other people’s blogs.

If you would know of another way to get traffic on a website, that would definitely help. Thanks once again for the support!

      2. Good to hear, that guy was totally out of line. You can comment and promote all you want on my blog, it is good for both of our SEO, not sure why people would not be alright with you leaving your web address for them to visit your site as well.

I have had some successes, some of my posts get a fair amount of impressions, but most days it is around 40-50. I have noticed that longer content tends to do better. Articles with a lot of links, tend to do well, stuff like that, but I am learning as I go as well.
