Daily writing prompt
What is one thing you would change about yourself?

If I could change myself, I think I would restore full functionality to my shoulder and my right ankle. I sustained some injuries from sports and neither joint has really been the same since. My shoulder has been especially problematic for me as I still play a lot of baseball an softball. Sometimes the pain is pretty intense, after I make throws, but I am not about to quit.

Of all the crazy things I have done, both of these injuries were sustained playing “softball”. One was a throw from the outfield where the shoulder made a popping sound and then felt like I was grinding bone on bone, which it still does, when aggravated, to this day. The other, the ankle, was from sliding into second without warming up and never clearing my back foot.

Those two short moments… brief decisions….I wish I could have over. It is funny how a things can change in a few seconds in life. I guess the lesson is, never forget about the good things in your life because they could be gone in an instant.

If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be? You don’t need to bark at everything, everywhere, all the time… My dog loves barking and has the loudest bark/howl in the neighborhood. As much as I treasure the sweet “song of Panda”, my neighbors don’t so much. That dog five houses…

Courage Under Fire

Good leadership flows from a calm spirit. Good leaders understand the link between calm and logical thinking, especially in crisis. A leader that is calm under fire inspires calm and focus in others. During the NFL playoffs yesterday, this was the deciding factor, especially at the quarterback position. Conditions were difficult for passing with low…

Exploring the Nostalgia of Time Capsules

  1. I had a college professor that started his class teaching us about Nietzsche. He would always tell us what made…

  2. This reflection feels grounded and truthful. I appreciate how you don’t romanticize relationships, but acknowledge both the pain and the…

  3. Much less acidic…easier on the stomach. I always get indigestion from regular coffee. It is supposed to be really good…

    1. No problem, thanks for the kind words!

  2. The bad part about aging, the healing process just isn’t the same. I grew up playing basketball. After I sprained both ankles in a game, I remember walking to the office from the parking garage and thought to myself, it’s time to hang up the shoes. Glad you are still playing. Sounds like you really love the game.

    1. That is a tough one. I feel fortunate to still be out there. Baseball has always been a big part of my life. Have you been safe from the fires?
