List the people you admire and look to for advice…

I admire anyone that works hard, lives up to their word, and takes care of their family. I admire the singer, the songwriter, the athlete, the dreamer, the non-comformist, the antagonist, the social media icon, the tribune, the whistle-blower, the political activist, the animal rights advocate and of course, the bloggers!

  1. Great post. I like how you listed a diverse group of people rather than one person in particular. I have also come to admire many people in my life from my parents to mentors. Making a list would be way too time-consuming so I would simply go with the obvious one: teachers. Teachers are influential figures that have impacted by life by shaping my future. As far back as I can remember, teachers are role models that have ensured my successful future. During high school, I developed strong bonds with a professor which I came to admire. He often gave me valuable advice that allowed me to cope with times of trouble.

An amazing movie about teachers that’s well worth watching is “The Holdovers”. It tells the story of a cranky teacher that’s forced to chaperone rowdy students during the Christmas holidays. Since you are a teacher, I have a feeling you would enjoy this one. Here’s why I recommend it strongly:

    1. Thanks Huilahi! I am sure all your teachers appreciate your gratitude. It is amazing how rewarding it is to help students reach their goals or get over stumbling blocks. I feel fortunate to be part of the profession. A lot of days, I feel like I am just part of a big family. The days really tend to fly by.

The Holdovers is definitely on my watch list. I will probably watch it during summer when I am missing my students! Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I will read your review after I watch it and leave a comment or two!

  3. Sir, After reading your post I think I am the one who can`t be admired becoz I failed in my exams on this 5th may and I can`t fulfill my dream, it seems my working hard isn`t enough becoz I don`t have brain in me, I donot live up to my word, and unable to take care and stand for my younger brother and sister and my family. I was feeling overwhelmed want to write something in my blogs, but starting reading blogs of everyone, and now I don’t know whom to say I also don’t know but wrote it. I feeling like what to do how to write this in my blogs. How do I get advice, what in life i will do. i am just failure and wasting parents money, feeling very bad and can`t concentrate, whether to take drop again for this exam or what else I would do in my life if i can`t fight this exam.

    1. I like the expression, “There are many ways to Rome,” in these moments and I have had many of them. If you know you gave everything you had to this cause and still came up short…what can you really do? You can’t get mad at yourself. You have two choices: 1) circle the wagons and get back at it, or 2) make a tactical retreat. What are you studying for?

  4. I admire those whom stay loyalty, honest, positive outlook for all things. Stays in the fun zone. I think it’s important to be fun no matter what

    1. It is really quite impossible to have healthy relationships otherwise, thanks for the thoughtful comment 🙂
