I wanted to be a teacher…jk…I wanted to be a Jedi Knight like Luke Skywalker and fly an X-Wing Fighter or a G.I. Joe pilot flying an F-14. I loved Star Wars, even though I had only seen it once or twice and the G.I. Joe cartoon.
I was a huge Star Wars fan. My parents had gotten me a giant black trash bag full of used Star Wars figures and ships for me around that age for my birthday, and I absolutely loved it!

My best friend Chris and I would play Star Wars for hours on end, but of course the G.I. Joe’s would sometimes be involved as well as The Transformers. He had this fort in his backyard that made of a pine wood frame and metal screws that was maybe 20 feet high. This provided a great “set” for our unfolding adventures in between bike rides and making quesidillas.

Keep in mind this was before the internet (early 1980’s) became widely available, but I am kind of glad it wasn’t around. Kids today are so addicted to screens and buttons, I feel like they really miss out on a lot.
