Daily prompt- 2004 – What’s Your Favorite Game?

Sitting around the table, with chips shuffling in your hand, you contemplate your next move, bet, check, fold??? Which will it be? You gaze across the table at your opponents for any clues as to what they are doing. You see a small tell, or at least you think it is a tell. Is your friend trying to limp in and steal the pot because they are betting last, or are they just trying to draw others into a pre-planned ambush. This is the excitement of just a few moments of a good poker game.

It is hard to beat a good game of poker with friends or family. Poker can be very casual or very competitive. There are almost an infinite number of variations you can play and you can even become a professional poker player. You can play on your phone, your PC, watch it on TV, or play in a casino. It is hard to find a more versatile game.

  1. Great posts as always. A challenging question for me to answer because I have never been really fond of playing games. I don’t have the time nor the motivation these days to play games. That being said, I do remember playing Scrabble a lot in my childhood. I remember the joy of playing Scrabble with family members that became a game I would often enjoy. In case you don’t know about it, Scrabble is a great game that involves making words on a board. You are given a set of letters and have to place them on a board. Not only did I find the game entertaining but also intellectually stimulating. It made me a better reader, and contributed to my knowledge of the English language. It also gave me a lifelong love for my writing which I cherish.

This post brought to mind the beautiful film “A Beautiful Mind”. It tells the true story of the renowned mathematician John Nash and how he developed his theories. Nash loved playing intellectual board games while he was a student at university. One of my favourite films of all-time.

Here’s why I recommend it strongly:

    1. Poker is a lot of fun, you should learn to play! I bet once you start playing you will really like it! I have never been a big reader myself. I much prefer video as a source of information.

Great movie! You review is very in depth!
