I don’t want to overshare on this one so I am just going to go with Allen, my pen name, has a Scottish-Gaelic origin, although I don’t know that I have any Scottish or Gaelic cultural ties. I am not super attached to it, but do feel I have under utilized this pseudonym throughout my life. It is kind of fun to have a different name you are known by in some circles than your normal one!
It is a variation of the surname MacAllen and may be derived from two separate sources: Ailin, in Irish and Scottish Gaelic, means both “little rock” and “harmony”, or it may also be derived from the Celtic Aluinn, which means “handsome”
