Depending on the conditions and how one is feeling drinks can be quite satisfying. I think my favorite drinks must have a context to be enjoyed fully. I spent a while in the restaurant business and learned how to pair drinks with different cuisine for enhancing the culinary experience. Here is my top five drinks, what are yours?
#1 – Hazy IPA with a Dodger Dog at Dodger Stadium – Tough to beat this pairing. The thrill of the game along with the always delicious Dodger Dog along with citrus flavors of an IPA make for a real home run!
#2 – A glass of Ruffino Reserva Ducale Chianti Classico with Cioppino Seafood Pasta Primavera – Cioppino if you have never had it before is a fantastic Italian seafood dish comprised of various types of seafood in a red sauce with fettuccini noodles and assorted fresh vegetables. The semi-sweet sauce mixed with a sharp flavorful chianti can be quite delicious as a pairing.
#3 – Any beer while golfing with friends – Golfing with friends is a great activity, with beer, pretty much any beer, it gets much more fun!
#4 – Yellow Gatorade after a hard workout on a hot day. I grew up drinking Gatorade on hot summer days of 110 degrees plus. On those hot days, Gatorade really feels like a blessing from the gods.
#5 – Pina Colada served with fried coconut shrimp – We used to recommend this combination back in my Red Lobster days and our guests absolutely loved it. The coconut in the batter of the coconut shrimp along with the pina colada complement each other nicely.
