The quiet hum of fingers on computer keys like raindrops

Student laughter, playful jokes

Fire alarm for thirty seconds

All clear message on the intercom

The threat has been identified

or has it?

  2. Great poem. What inspires you?

    1. This one was inspired by the underlying trauma student’s and teachers in our district have in the aftermath of the Saugus High School shooting which killed two freshmen students. I tried to juxtapose that sentiment with the idea that we try to convince kids we have everything under control, but in reality, we do not.
