The light bulb…just kidding, I am not that old! I would have to say the personal computer for sure. The personal computer has opened many pathways to human beings, proliferating from the early Apple computers to handheld cell phones that are thousands of time more powerful in forty short years!

As kids, we thought this was they coolest thing, but that it was not something that could possibly happen in our lifetime, well, it happened when I was twenty-eight years old or so…
The Improvement of the Microchip Processor Over Time
Has this invention been a benefit or detriment to humanity….depends on who you ask. I think the only thing that could potentially save our collective butts in regards to environmental destruction is technology and of course the cryptic artificial intelligences we have created. I included a graph illustrating Moore’s Law, showing that the number of transistors capable of being used effectively by a computer chip is doubling roughly every year months. Where will we be in 20 years, 100 years, or 500 years?
