Picture an early morning sunrise, fresh coffee percolating, everyone sleeping except for your loving wife, who makes you breakfast and wishes you good luck before you go fishing.

She engages me about what types of baits I will use, encourages me to get that expensive fishing rod from Bass Pro Shops and asks, “Babe, why don’t you go buy a bass boat, you deserve it!” I guess you could say my love language is bass fishing. This is the love that I have found, the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.

    1. Is fishing a love language😂

      1. It is, the way your wife talks it! Good for her!

      2. I’m a lucky guy!

      3. From what I hear from other fishermen ~ yes, yes you are! Kiss ‘er once for me!

      4. It is nice to have someone that gets you. It was not always that way for me.

      5. So you know how to appreciate it. How lovely.

      6. I guess that’s what happens when you learn the hard way.

  1. Great posts as always. I liked your answer. It’s a difficult question for me to answer because I have never been a romantic person. You may be surprised to learn that I have never had a girlfriend. As a shy person with Autism, I have often struggled to connect with girls my age. It’s not a lack of motivation but just the kind of person I am. The closest I ever came to a romance was the time I fell for a crush in school. At an early age, I fell in love with a girl in school with aspirations for marriage. We always got along well together. However, the barriers of immigration brought our relationship to a closure. I never got a chance to confess my feelings for a girl I loved. I feared I would look like a fool asking out the most popular girl in my school. Years later, I’ve come to discover that romance is a prospect that’s unattainable for me. So, that’s my long-winded thoughts on romance.

This prompt brought to mind the magnificent movie “Past Lives”. It tells the story of two childhood lovers from South Korea separated by immigration barriers. It was my favorite film of 2023, and I have since seen it nine times. Here’s why it’s a must-see:

    1. I guarantee you there is someone out there that is in the same situation as you. You just have to cast a wider net. Online dating sites can help lower the anxiety you feel because it is obvious if you are reaching out to someone on a site, that you like them. If they are not interested, they will probably just not respond. It is a lot like blogging! Focus on your strengths, you are an excellent written communicator. My two cents….

      Is this on Amazon Prime?

      1. Thanks for the feedback. I have not made any attempt to get on dating sites. I just feel when the time is right, I will find the one. I do miss my childhood crush though and often think about her.

“Past Lives” is available on Amazon Prime but I believe you have to pay for it. You can rent it. It’s worth buying. Truly one of the greatest movies I have ever seen.

      2. Yeah, but if you get too anxious to talk to them, you are really decreasing your odds. Girls rarely will just come along like that. They usually have lots of guys after them, so the ones that never talk to them don’t really even show up on their radar. I am telling you man, release that inner Romeo online!

    1. Thanks friend!

  2. Families that engage in the spouses interests tend to have better relationships. I love how your wife enjoys learning about your passion as much as you do.

    1. She definitely gets me. Thanks for the comment 🙂
