What book are you reading right now?
I am reading a few books right now actually. I am reading Ayn Rand’s, Atlas Shrugged and Rachael Maddow’s Prelude.
Atlas Shrugged chronicles a dystopiantfuture where industry is not allowed ro thrive by government, making the economy slowly crumble. The story itself is kind of cliche’ by today’s standards, but was revolutionary for its time. The writing itself is exceptional as this book is widely regarded as one of the best books of the 20th century.
Maddow’s Prequel dives deep into the social undercurrents of the 1930’s in America. Maddow as a historian is second to none as she painstainkingly investigates the infamous “Silver Shirts” or American Nazi Party of that time. It has relevance for several reasons, one, the rise of a new authoritarian fascist plot in the United States and two, to show how close the U.S. was to joining the countries of Europe as fascist dictatorships during the Great Depression and New Deal eras.
I am enjoying both books. I am reading Prequel as an audiobook and Atlas Shrugged as a digital book on my Iphone reader. What books are you reading?
