My mother and I bought a nice little three bedroom one bath house in Springfield Illinois that we intended to rent out over the long term for income.

We paid $48,500 for it, put another 12 or 13k into it. We had tenants looking at it and then some absolute pieces of crap individuals decided to break in and steal all the copper piping and electrical wiring doing in excess of 20k in damage for which our insurance does not cover.

I could understand breaking in and taking some stuff or even squatting for a while if one had to, but this is insane. I am so pissed….end of rant!

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about the damage to your property—it must be incredibly frustrating to have your investment go up in smoke like that. It’s a tough situation, especially when you’re trying to build something positive for the future. I hope you’re able to recover from this setback and find some peace of mind moving forward.

    1. Yeah, I mean it wasn’t a huge investment, but I was really hoping to start generating some “passive income” to help pay for my daughter’s college tuition. I am sure they will get what is coming to them, their lives are already most likely in throws of fatal addiction, so there is that…

  2. What the hell? I’m pissed for you! Hope you get a good long term renter in there soon.

  3. I don’t understand taking what is not yours! Period!

    1. Update – we sold the house at a huge loss. Bad guys won this time around…
